Accidents due to technical vehicles colliding with laborers in work areas are unfortunately not uncommon. SophyAI can lend a hand in solving the problem with a kit to be mounted on the vehicle rather than sensors worn by the workers operating in the area. Using artificial intelligence, SophyAI Sentinel 4.0 monitors the area around the vehicle via a spherical camera placed on top of the vehicle, a box containing the processing unit, and a tablet in the cab of the vehicle to alert the driver and observe what is around him. In the basic version, it is a stand-alone system that alerts the driver when a person is in the risk area relative to the movement of the vehicle. Through configurable geofences, it is possible to define the distances at which to activate the alarms, which can be differentiated in relation to the distance at which the person, at potentially in danger, is located. SophyAI Sentinel 4.0 can interface with the vehicles can-bus to autonomously activate slowdowns or stops of the vehicle.
In its most complete version, SophyAI Sentinel 4.0 can interact with fixed cameras, which are present in the area, if operated by SophyAI. This allows the system to not only process what the vehicle’s camera sees but also use what the fixed ones observe to get a more complete overview of the scenario (if a person in an area not covered by the vehicle’s camera is seen by a fixed camera connected to SophyAI, he or she enters, automatically, into the vehicle’s “capability” of vision.
Last but not list, SophyAI Sentinel 4.0 also performs telemetry of the vehicle giving the possibility to take advantage of the benefits related to Industry 4.0
